The Exotic Garden of Monoco in Monte Carlo, Monoco
Hannah from Eat Sleep Breathe Travel
Monte Carlo is synonymous with money, so it’s no surprise that getting into the Exotic Garden comes with a fee (7.20 euro per adult in April, 2014) but it’s worth it. The garden features a variety of flora and fauna from around the world. Because of its global diversity, there’s always something flowering. The Exotic Garden of Monoco is unique in the world, as it is primarily made of up succulents — plants that can withstand dry climates. Many of the plants are different species of cacti, but although they may not be leafy, there is no shortage of colour or flowers.
Pretty flowers aside, the best part about these gardens is the view: a postcard-worthy vista of Monte Carlo’s Old Town (The Rock) and both ports. On a warm, sunny day it’s the perfect place to grab a spot on a bench beside the flowering cacti and watch the world go by. If you’re lucky, you’ll even see a private helicopter land. Although, since it is Monte Carlo we are talking about, you’ll probably see several.
