Trinidad and Tobago
Marissa from Mad Travel Diaries
Trinidad and Tobago is a hidden gem at the bottom of the Caribbean and the perfect tropical winter getaway. It’s one country made up of two islands separated by a short 15 minute flight or 2 hour boat ride; the twin island nation has something to offer everyone. Visitors have the freedom to explore the raw beauty and genuine adventure that awaits – from bird watching to hiking and cycling trails, amazing waterfalls and deserted bays to spectacular beaches, dive sites and rain forests.
Culturally, Trinidad and Tobago is a melting pot; from the highly popular Carnival which falls in February/March to many festivals celebrated by the Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities. There is a little of everything on both islands to entice visitors and since the economy is not heavily dependent on tourism, there is more freedom and privacy to immerse themselves into the local way of life.
